Here are a couple of photos of my latest acquisition. I was given a tip by my very resourceful friend Stu about a Braz neck blank at a certain wood dealer. So I called and something the dealer said led me to believe that he had more. And he did...

A couple hundred pounds of old growth Brazilian RW that has been around for 35+ years. Now it has its issues in places and I am not sure how much will be useable for solid necks but I am thinking that I will be able to get as many as 10-12 solid one piece neck blanks out of this lot of wood. For reference almost all of these pieces are 12/4 (or 3") thick and 36" long. The very long piece on the floor is actually 88". There are going to be some beautiful necks out of this group of wood. I may set a few pieces aside also for acoustic back/side sets if I can.

FYI - While not the darkest Braz i have seen, these pics show the wood a lot lighter than in person. Also, when the wood is planed it will darken.

Looks like some nice stuff Jason. Just how dark do you think the darkest piece will be?

Hey Niall,
I will know when I plane it how dark it will be. At this point it is pretty rough!! I need to figure out the best way to slice it up first. I will let you guys know how the milling comes out.
E-mail me to discuss some options though!
Jason

Stu - did I ever say thank you?! You rock man....

If you have enough white RW for a FB I might have to buy it for when I can afford another guitar.. :D

Bryan, most definitely man! There will quite a bit of sapwood after it is milled. Might be an untapped resource!!

Not to steal Jason's thunder, and no intention of spam, but here's an example:
