I finally decided on a switching set up today.
If you guys dont already know I'm running a pair of Dragons and a Barden in the middle with 5 way switching and 2 push pulls on the volume and tone. The volume is coil splitting and the tone activates the bridge. I did it this way because I wanted use the individual coils. The Dragons sound really nice as single coils and give the guitar a nice stratty vibe when split.
So heres the final settings and combos...Well until I try some Goodwoods, but thats not going to be for a while. As it is I really like what I'm hearing right now so i don't feel an urgent need to change them. It's more curiosity then anything else.
Well here it goes:
Push Pull 1 down - Push Pull 2 down
1. Bridge HB
2. Bridge HB & Middle
3. Middle
4. Neck HB & Middle
5. Neck HB
Push Pull 1 up - Push Pull 2 down
1. Bridge Slug Coil
2. Bridge Slug Coil & Middle
3. Middle
4. Neck Slug Coil & Middle
5. Neck Slug Coil
Push Pull 1 down - Push Pull 2 up
1. Bridge HB
2. Middle & Bridge HB
3. Middle & Bridge HB
4. Neck HB & Middle & Bridge HB
5. Neck HB & Bridge HB
Push Pull 1 up - Push Pull 2 up
1. Bridge Slug Coil
2. Middle & Bridge Slug Coil
3. Middle & Bridge Slug Coil
4. Neck Slug Coil & Middle & Bridge Slug Coil
5. Neck Slug Coil & Bridge Slug Coil
I find them all usable tones. The guitar has a killer sizzle to it split and becomes fuller but still retains note clarity in HB mode even when using a bit of gain. It's great to hear m7s 9chords ring clear through a good crunch tone.. :D
I'll be in the studio tomorrow night so I hope have something for you all to hear in the next few days.
