So I have been toying with the idea trying to build a guitar... Jason knows this cause I have emailed him many times about it. I think I am going to order some wood tonight and like 5 books.

My vision for my first guitar is either a full mahogany PRS style les paul junior.. I've seen a PRS like this before. IRW Neck, Mahogany body... I am guessing a stoptail since I couldn't imagine the first time aroud I'd be ready for a Trem. Or Mahogany neck, or Maple neck... its all in the air... but thats beside the point.

(I figure learning to build could curb some of the GAS, and keep me occupied between custom orders from Jason and other true luthiers like him, as opposed to me the fake luthier)

My question though

How would a swamp ash body with a maple neck and ebony boards sound, real bright or would the swamp ash keep it from being too bright. I can get some chunk out of my SAS so I am assuming the ebony wouldn't affect it too too much.

I'd think that maple/ebony would be really briight. Like maple/maple but with more "ding" in it.

Not bad if you're looking for "Stratty" tone!

yeah, i also think that swamp ash with maple and ebony would be really bright.

i think it would make a super tight funk player's axe.. the ebony and maple would give it unparalled quick response when you play tight muted stacatto riffs and lines.

I have a guitar that is unfinished Swamp Ash body and unfinished maple neck with only a JB in the bridge and it sounds amazing ! now what ebony would do to this combo I do not know since I'm no wood fanatic...all I know is the swamp ash and maple neck is an amazing straight rock guitar :D
